The visit is in 2 parts: * firstly: visit of the castles and « medieval village » over an adapted walking path, starting from a former textile factory; * secondly, the panoramic view overlooking the entire site from the Belvedere de Montfermier. Cabaret Castle is composed of three parts: a polygonal keep, a main central building, surrounded by a polygonal curtain wall. The northern extremity shelters the vestiges of an old square tower. Surdespine Castle is dominated by a square tower separate from a quadrangular dwelling house and adjacent to a cistern. Tour Regine and Quertineux, built during the 13th centuries, are easy to identify thanks to their circular towers. Tour Régine is the smallest castle. Cabaret and Quertineux were greatly remodelled during the 16th century because the site was adapted to the use of fire-arms. You will also discover the « Hole of the Cité ». This is Lastours' biggest cave out of some forty of them. This underground tunnel, many times re-modelled, probably served as storeroom, shelter or sheepfold. The « princess with the necklace » was lying in a nearby cavern known as « the necklace shelter ». At the end of the 12th century, the medieval village of Cabaret was a centre of intense activity: both spiritual and crafts. It was also home to a large population. There are vestiges of houses, workshops, streets and many everyday objects. In the former textile factory, there is an exhibition "Lastours, 4000 years of history' showing the main discoveries from 25 years of archaeological digs. It is divided into three parts: « From prehistory to history », «Living at Cabaret », « From Cabaret to Lastours ». Completed by an interactive panel display, the exhibition completes the visit of the site in a coherent manner
