As well as numerous documents (texts, photos and illustrations); sound tracks and two vidéos (one showing the Cathar ritual of the consolament) guide the visitor in the steps of the Cathars to the villages and castles of Occitania. Discover the everyday life of the Cathars through three centuries, in the context of the feudal society, the crusade and the persecutions of which they were victims … a voyage from the 11th to the 14th centuries which makes it possible to understand the day to day practice of this dissident Christian faith. The land and the people, the birth of a new heresy, the promise of Christian salvation, the crusade, the inquisition and the Cathar winter are some of the themes which are developed during the visit… Guided visit adapted for schools with the possibility to do workshops around Medieval themes (heraldry, calligraphy, coats of mail …) Disabled access throughout the visit. Possibility to combine the exhibition visit with a visit of the Medieval village of Hautpoul. Historical birthplace of Mazamet, it was a place of refuge and resistance for the Cathars : vestiges of two castles and fortifications, woodwork craft boutiques…
